We have reached 2000 Military Dead in Iraq.

The media should have fun with this. The hidden agendas of so many agencies will start to show. Here are a couple of stories to read and keep an eye on.

From WRAL.com: Military: 2,000 Dead An Artificial Mark

U.S. Army Lt. Col. Steve Boylan, director of the force’s combined press center, described the number as an “artificial mark on the wall.”

“I ask that when you report on the events, take a moment to think about the effects on the families and those serving in Iraq,” Boylan said in an e-mail. “The 2,000 service members killed in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom is not a milestone. It is an artificial mark on the wall set by individuals or groups with specific agendas and ulterior motives.”

From The News Tribune: U.S. military deaths reach 2,000 in Iraq

The U.S. military death toll in the Iraq war reached 2,000 with the announcements Tuesday of three more deaths.
Also Tuesday, Iraqi election officials said the nation’s constitution was adopted by a majority in a fair vote during the Oct. 15 referendum, as Sunni Arab opponents failed to muster enough support to defeat it. A prominent Sunni politician called the balloting “a farce.”

Via TimesOnline by way of Little Green Footballs: Bush can’t change direction despite this grim milestone

WHEN the US reaches the grim milestone of 2,000 military deaths in Iraq, will the outcry force the Bush Administration to change course? More precisely, will it force the White House to begin bringing back troops earlier than it would have done? It can’t. Iraq is the one policy to which President Bush is committed, above all others. US officials say that if you even mention pulling out from Iraq in the Oval Office “you better be wearing an asbestos suit”. The roots of the commitment go deeper than the President’s personal indignation at the thought that he might quit. The effect on the US’s reputation abroad would be devastating.
